A review of the girls’ uniform (concerning skirt and trousers) has already begun and next year we are likely to see a change of garments, at some point in 2011. Therefore, please be advised that it would NOT be wise to buy more than one new skirt / trousers during the summer, if you have outgrown your current one.

The Sponsored Walk 2010 raised £7500, a much needed sum that will help the School equip our fitness room in the new Sports Hall and upgrade other equipment throughout the school.
Ellie Holland Yr 8 and Marcus Cave Yr 9 both won an iPod Touch. iPod Docking Stations were won by Megan Benson Yr 8 and Freya Watts Yr 9. The iTune vouchers went to Charlotte Foulkes Yr 7, Edward Cook Yr 10 and Michelle Hysom Yr 12. The iPad was won by Gavin Simpson Yr 12.
Thank you for all your effort and support for the Walk this year. Over 800 students completed the 10 kilometers.

Like many schools, Roundwood Park School has registered with the Department for Education for updates on academy status in order to be kept fully briefed about developments with this initiative. As yet the information available is not sufficient for us to make an informed judgement about whether or not academy status would bring benefits to Roundwood and we therefore have no plans in the short term to apply to become an academy. We will continue to keep abreast of developments and review information as it becomes available. Any decision in the future to apply to become an academy would only be reached after consultation with parents, students, staff and governors.

I am delighted by the achievements of this year's A Level cohort at Roundwood Park. Well over twenty students achieved A* and A grades in every subject. However, very many students with lower grades also reached or exceeded their targets. I want to recognise the life-enhancing skills, talents and qualities developed by all our students which don't get certificated. We are very proud of their academic success but equally heartened by the fact that we have helped to prepare well-rounded and caring individuals for the next phase of their lives and careers.

This year’s excellent GCSE results are capped by outstanding individual performances where several students achieved A* grades in every subject. I am thrilled for all of them and very proud of their achievements because I know how much effort they put into preparing for these exams.

As this is the last set of Year 11 students that I shall work with at Roundwood Park, I want to wish them all much joy and success as they move on to the next stage of their education.

Alan is forty three years old and is married with two children.
He lives in Bedfordshire but is a proud Northerner hailing from Leeds.

He has been teaching for eighteen years and started his career as an English teacher at Lealands High School in Luton.
He then moved to Verulam School in St Albans as KS3 English Coordinator and from there moved to Beaumont School, as Head of English.
He worked there for five and a half years, latterly becoming an Assistant Head, before he moved to Simon Balle School in January 2005 as Deputy Headteacher.

He is really looking forward to joining Roundwood Park in September and getting to know the students, staff and parents.
